Widen to six lanes and cars
will fill that, too. If you build it, they will come. Wider = Faster.
Doesn't make sense to go back & forth between 4 & 6 lanes - "lane
runner-outers." Don't want to widen FOB for the sake of those commuting
to Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Citrus Heights.
|
Will the County buy them and give
them fair market value? How is a value set?
|
4 Lanes is the least
invasive-better to leave alone. Just maintain existing and improve by
lighting & sidewalks in existing neighborhoods.
|
Why if we do is, did the county
downgrade a lot of commercial to BP in the 80s
|
| Discussions with
people around the room indicates that the vast majority do not want more
lanes!! |
Where are Regional Blue Prints stored on
website? Where is the list of "unwanted business?" Want to know specific
plans for Wayside Lane industrial property.
|
Trees along side are
most important to begin. Businesses resist road widening but must
accommodate.
|
Why not just vote? What about expanding
our ancient freeway system?
|
4-H Only way to go! No
6-l Thank you! Great Meeting!
|
What is the financial impact on
upkeep on side streets, if traffic was to turn in that direction?
|
I realize the
objectives of this council. Unfortunately most of the residents are not
looking for another little S.F. or Berkeley. Of course we want the area
beautiful and functional, but not so restrictive. Why go against
American values?
|
What will make six lanes @ 45 mph
pedestrian bike friendly? Please don't cut down the park size
|
Please expand FOB to
six lanes now or 1) it will never happen or 2) will be more expensive to
accomplish in the future. #1 priority move traffic through our area and
not on cut-through streets.
|
Was there a preconceived result?
|
4 lanes and ONLY 4
lanes. (1) I use crutches. 6 lanes are dangerous. (2) Traffic calming
can be done by lowering the speed limit and enforcing it. Traffic
calming is eligible for Federal $ funds!
|
What is the impact of each
alternative on vehicle speeds in the uncongested period?
|
If you build it wider,
they will come. Stay to 4 lanes.
|
What laws, requirements/
conditions/mandates can or will be put in place to insure planning
decisions won't be circumvented by special interests?
|
No left hand turn from Robertson onto FOB for fire trucks. Suggest 6
lane.
|
With most of Fair Oaks Blvd being four
lanes why is there so much emphasis on making a two mile strip through
Carmichael the only six lane section? Also, won't there be quite a
traffic back up in Carmichael as the six lanes turn back into four
lanes?
|
To ensure California
traffic is not adversely impacted and to make it more walkable, add
planters at some key intersections to divert traffic to Fair Oaks. Make
people enjoy those new trees on Fair Oaks Boulevard!!
|
|
I want to be able to
continue to use my industrial on my private street for industrial land
use. Otherwise, my property decreases in value. If forced to sell, I'm
afraid won't get a fair market value. Industrial use pays high.

Traffic concern - Fair
Oaks Boulevard needs to be identified as Watt to Sunrise.
|
|
Thank you for letting
us voice our concerns and opinions. I enjoyed hearing the plans for my
community.
|
|
Very good meeting.
Well organized and presented very professionally. Look forward to next
meeting.
|
|
My fear is Garfield
and CA will continue to see traffic increases and if Fair Oaks is not
widened to 6 lanes cars will back up 20 cars and County will be forced
to install traffic lights or worse widen to 4 lanes on Garfield or CA
Ave.
|
|
Fair Oaks Speed - 40
not 45 people go 50-60 now. Get signals lights, make turns out to
improve traffic. Put cross walks (east to west and back) on over passes
will help keep traffic moving. Make turn-outs for busses and right turn
autos. Keeps traffic moving. 6 lanes all way no splits.
|
|
I am not aware of the
details related improved traffic flow without widening Fair Oaks Blvd.
No Hybrid! 40 mph while waiting for 6 lanes to change lights to allow
left turns.
|
|
It was great to see
the community interest at this meeting. I wish there was a more user
friendly approach to getting feedback.
|
|
#1 concern - need a
traffic light at Landis & Fair Oaks at the post office / Starbucks!
|
|
4-lane boulevard is
the right choice
|
|
Plans do not include
any parking for current businesses. They community objectives were very
confusing and were not explained clearly as to the rating procedure. My
group was mostly for a 4 lane expansion with sidewalks and landscape.
Recycle its good for our Environment!

Looking for the next
workshop

Offset intersection at
Landis & Fair Oaks Boulevard, so southeasterly traffic can turn left
directly out of Fair Oaks Boulevard.
|
|
Continue 6 lanes on
Fair Oaks Boulevard to Marconi with trees on the side. Reduce cut thru
traffic on neighborhood streets.

The directions for the
table group were a bit confusing. For example, the facilitator kept
asking for our #1 choice; however, the exercise objective was to
identify our most important as #1. This choice of semantics confused
members on our team.
|
|
After the conclusion
of the tallying of each team top priority, the speakers grossly
misrepresented the outcome. Easily 2/3s of the tables preferred 4 lanes.
Yet the speaker said that 6 lanes was the preferred option. This was
surprising and disappointing.
|
|
Build more wider roads
& they will continue to come. We will never be able to solve these
community problems because we never address the root cause -- unchecked
population growth! A very politically incorrect stance! Please
synchronized signal lights, add bus turnouts.
|
|
(1) Not nearly enough
pedestrian crossings - should be at least every 1/4 mile. (2) Some
streets are accessible by vehicle left turns but no place for
pedestrian. (3) Intersections should have crossings on all legs
(Pedestrian Design Guidelines). (4) Wider, more lanes will likely
encourage high speeds. This should be examined fully in EIR.
|
|
4 Lanes, right turn
lanes, trees, separated side walks, adequate parking.
|
|
The community
objectives grid is biased towards a 6-lane plan!
|
|
Bruce - your style of
facilitating a meeting is not conducive to participations - your
frequent yelling, bossing, etc., was demoralizing and distracting.
Looking forward to improved atmosphere at the next meeting.
|
|
4 lane had 12 votes
out of 18 teams. We look forward to our wishes of 4 lane NOT 6 to be
implemented.
|
|
Eliminate many traffic
signals on FOB to improve traffic flow. Plant evergreen trees (Date,
Palm, Olive, etc.) for low maintenance and visibility of Blvd
businesses. Add bus turnouts to the 4 lane Blvd. If you want public art
do no create a Disneyland environment like the Carmichael Sign in
Carmichael Park.
|
|
If we do not make
community identity and attractiveness a priority, we will become Watt
Ave through North Highlands. Lots of traffic flow, zero quality of life.
|
|
I'm very concerned
about the proposed 45 mph speed limit which means many people will
probably drive at least 55 mph turning downtown Carmichael into a mini
"freeway" for about two miles. This may be nice for some commuters, but
not for the "residents" of Carmichael. If we're looking out 25 to 30
years as we were told last night, I would think the emphasis would be on
greater use of mass transit, not automobiles.
|
|
In your FOB Corridor
Plan, please include speed bumps on side streets along the 2-mile
stretch of FOB under consideration. This will help mitigate cut-through
neighborhood traffic, or at least discourage it.
