OTHER CORRIDOR PROJECTS
In addition to the three major
corridor plans, Sacramento County is actively working on revitalization planning
for other corridors. While not as comprehensive, they are important to
setting the stage for reinvestment and new opportunities in the unincorporated
County. The Department of Transportation also has a number of streetscape and
roadway improvements underway and information. Visit

Auburn East (Old Foothill Farms):
Runs along Auburn Boulevard between Winding Way
northeasterly up to the City of Citrus Heights, and includes portions of
Madison Ave. The Department of Economic Development is preparing a “Economic
and Community Development
Strategy” for this area, working with business and
property owners and neighborhood.
Current
Status: Board of Supervisors endorsed
the Community and Economic Development Strategy on October 31, 2007. There are
ongoing meetings with the Old Foothill Farms Community Task Force. One of the
next steps is to look at the feasibility of establishing the Property Based
Improvement District (PBID). Contact:

Auburn West: Includes
properties along Auburn Boulevard from Howe Avenue to Winding Way in the
Arden-Arcade community. A Special Planning Area and Streetscape Master Plan
focusing the creation of a theme and design standards is in draft form. This
area is a redevelopment area.

Current Status: An EIR is being
prepared for the Special Planning Area and Streetscape Master Plan. Public
hearings on the SPA are expected in the spring of 2008.

Folsom Blvd Transit Area Plan:
Includes land around and between the Watt/Manlove,
Butterfield, Sunrise and Hazel Light Rail Stations. The proposed
Easton
Project on Aerojet
property is a key catalyst project for transit-supportive land uses. The
County intends to develop a Special Planning Area for this area, with a focus on
transit-supportive uses.
Current
Status: Community and stakeholder workshops
were held in September-October-November 2007. Draft Transit Area Plans (SPA’s)
are being prepared. The next step is a Board workshop on the draft plans in

Freedom Park Drive:
In
North Highlands around Freedom Park Drive and Watt Avenue, the area is slated as
the “North Highlands Town Center”. A “North Highlands Town Center Development
Code” is underway to create a vision for a mixed use center. Visit

status: The
Draft EIR has been released and final public hearings will be held in January –
February 2008.

Fulton Avenue:
Located
in the County’s main auto center, the County and business community are actively
working on revitalization. Visit

Hurley Way:
This
area is in Arden-Arcade and is primarily a residential corridor. The
Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS) received a SACOG grant to look at innovative ways to make the
corridor more pedestrian-friendly.

Old Florin Town:
This
section of Florin Road between Power Inn Road and Florin-Perkins Road has a
unique historical flavor. A “Visions
Plan” has been prepared for this area
and a Special Planning Area with a new land use plan and streetscape plan will
