Location/Boundary: The corridor study area is along Fair Oaks Boulevard in the Carmichael community area, starting at Oak Avenue at the southern end, and extending to Marshall Avenue on the eastern end.  The corridor also extends northward along Manzanita Avenue to just north of Winding Way at the northern end.

Project Description:

The Fair Oaks Boulevard Corridor Plan is a multi-year program that will be accomplished in three steps:

  • Defining Opportunities. The first step is to identify issues and opportunities for implementing the community’s objectives for  Carmichael and Fair Oaks Boulevard.
  • Strategies. The second step will propose land use, economic development, infrastructure, circulation, and design strategies. Concepts report will summarize the results of Step 2.
  • Action Plan. The third step will result in a set of implementation activities that will establish investment priorities and sequencing.

Community Workshops:
On October 30, 2007 more than 175 people attended the second of three community workshops as part of the Fair Oaks Boulevard Corridor planning process.  Participants were updated and discussed overall objectives for the plan and design options for Fair Oaks Boulevard.

Supervisor Susan Peters welcomed the workshop attendees and gave a brief summary of the process. Principal Planner Cindy Storelli presented more details and encouraged people to fill out the question and comment cards and check the project website for meeting notes, updates and draft documents. Consultants Bruce Race of RACESTUDIO and Chris Brieland of Fehr & Peers provided a short overview or roadway design and planning concepts for the area.

After the welcome and presentation, attendees formed 18 planning teams and identified their top five objectives for the Corridor Plan and rated how each of the three roadway design options supported their top objectives.
