FLORIN ROAD COMMERCIAL CORRIDOR PLAN
Current Status: (December 26, 2007)
The Florin Road Corridor Plan is a joint planning initiative between the
County of
Sacramento and the City of Sacramento, and in close collaboration with
the Florin Road Partnership. The MOU was adopted by both the City
Council and Board of Supervisors in October-November, 2007. The
Corridor planning process is in full swing. A Steering Committee
comprised of representatives of both City and County residents and
businesspeople will be gearing up in January, 2008. The community
visioning process and assessment of best practices will be one of the
first steps. Crime prevention will be a strong focus of the effort.
The firm of Rooney Public Affairs is helping the County as lead
consultant to prepare this plan and to engage the community in it’s
future.

Location/Boundary:
This
project is located in the
unincorporated
and incorporated South Sacramento area.
The Florin Road Corridor
stretches from Tamoshanter Way in the west to Stockton Boulevard in the
east. The portion that is in the incorporated City area is from
Tamoshanter Way to Franklin Boulevard.

Project
Description:
The Corridor
Plan will include mixed –use opportunities; identify beatification areas;
encourage revitalization efforts along the Florin Road. Florin Commercial
Corridor Plans will improve corridors image and promote competitiveness.
The final
product will be a comprehensive Florin Road Commercial Corridor Plan. Plans
will include housing strategies, mobility plans focusing on transit, bicycle
and pedestrian circulation. The project plans will also consist of development
standards and guidelines. In addition, there will also include a base level of
infrastructure analysis, identify opportunity sites, marketing strategy, and
financing options for implementation of the plan.
